Our bestsellers

Winnies Yorkshire Delights

Our Food Products are all homemade, handmade by me from products bought from local suppliers in Yorkshire unless otherwise stated . These consist of chutneys, (in the finals for 2019 for best local product of Flavours of Herriot) relishes, including award winning Beetroot relish (winner of best local product in the Flavours of Herriot 2017) and marmalades (in the finals best local product for 2022 Flavours of Herriot), seasonally sourced and made in small batches. Ideal for yourself or all year round gifts from Yorkshire.

My emphasis is on good quality artisan products that are combined to produce tasty additional flavours to you plate, free of artificial flavours and additives and packaged in plastic free packaging (Although they may wrinkle) that can be recycled to save everyone’s resources.

History of the Company

Winnies Yorkshire Delights was started over ten years ago to all the regulatory standards, Based near Thirsk, famous for the author ,James Herriot ( Alf Wight) of All Creatures Great and small Winifred Ruth English was born in the cathedral city of Ripon to a farming family. Homemade artisan food was and still is the order of the day. She comes from a family of entrepreneurs and creativity.

Her original career, after graduating with a degree in Geography at Liverpool University, was in the tourism industry pioneering economic development in Staffordshire Moorlands in the Southern Peak District, home of the first farm holiday group, Peak and Moorlands farm holidays which became the blue print of all farm holiday groups and eventually Farm Stay. She worked with others when Alton Towers first opened and represented many other small and medium sized enterprises  like her own . Later she was the first tourism officer for Middlesbrough , when the last shipyard closed in 1986, bringing her back to her Yorkshire roots. It was marketed as the Gateway to Captain Cook Country in the North York Moors. After a break to raise children, family circumstances  meant she was always flexible in taking on a range of different roles as many women do. When both girls were at universities she used her determination to develop her own food business from scratch.

Successes

She was nominated several times for innovation with Hambleton District Council, her supportive local authority and in 2017 she achieved the status of best Local Product status in the Flavours of Herriot awards for her Beetroot relish, was in the finals for her Autumn fruit chutney in 2017 and for her Seville orange marmalade in 2022.

Innovation

She entered a tough competitive market place for her preserves but is renowned not only for her Yorkshire provenance but for singing a song when you buy called Winnies’ Yorkshire Delights, the Beetroot relish song on the guitar provided by her father when she was 12 years old! She is even mentioned in a paragraph in Peter Wright Book  of the Yorkshire vet.

In a world that is constantly changing she has to be aware on a daily basis as many people and businesses do of the weather, economic forces. We stand outside in the markets at all times of year and many have to do in the food ,energy and staples industries , greet everyone with  a smile and most of all and ‘ Never take anything for granted ‘ Health is wealth’ , you are what you eat is my motto. We hope you enjoy the product of my  experience and hard work and wish you all the best and thank you for joining in.
